My father was a banker and my husband was a CPA. I was an English teacher and horrible at math, so you can fill in the blanks. My husband died and I’ve been struggling with this whole tax mess since 2008 when a very good CPA filed the last joint tax return (wrong). There is this tiny glitch in one crummy oil and gas form. So this year I screwed up, broke my arm, filed an extension and hoped for the best. Would you please be so kind as to tell me what the standard deduction for a single woman, almost 75, was for 2016. I really hate the IRS website! I would love it if you could bring order and clarity to my financial life. But if you are mostly a business oriented company, I understand. Thank you.

Hi – I’m fairly new to Austin and am looking for a local CPA to do my annual tax return and provide periodic tax strategy advice. I recently retired and will need advice on how to draw on my investments in a way that minimizes my taxes. Do you work with individuals as well as companies? Could we have a quick meeting or phone chat about whether and how we could work together? Thank you!
