Michele Sweeten, CPA, founded the Sweeten CPA accounting firm in 2002 as a one woman operation. Since then she has grown the firm through her hard work and vision to a staff of 16 CPAs, accountants, and bookkeepers with clients in a wide array of industries including construction, retail, professional services, and education. She is dedicated and loyal to her clients, and now more than 400 individuals and small businesses rely on her for the trusted relationship, intelligence and responsiveness they have come to know and expect. In addition to delivering high quality and cost-effective bookkeeping and tax preparation services, Michele also prides herself in connecting dedicated professionals with each other in order to reach their goals and grow their businesses through involvement in various networking groups, business coaching, and leadership services.
Angela Angelo began working with Sweeten CPA in 2012. A CPA with the state of Texas since 1997, Angela is knowledgeable with taxes as well as proficient in a wide range of accounting software and is Quickbooks certified. She has 30+ years of experience in diverse financial roles including, most recently, various financial supervisory roles at the University of Texas at Austin (go Longhorns!) and Senior Budget Analyst for the city of Plano, Texas. She has two bachelor’s degrees in political science and accounting from Southwestern University and University of Texas at Dallas, respectively.
In 2016, we were joined by Cari Vincent, a CPA of 16 years with experience in many CPA firms. She is certified in both Texas and her home state of Kentucky. As a senior tax accountant, she has spent many years representing clients to the IRS, filing tax returns (including multi-state), and managing accounting systems. She has a passion for research and solving problems for her clients. What an addition for us!
Tax Process Manager
Ann Brooke is an experienced bookkeeper, tax preparer, and Tax Process Manager, a daunting task now that our processed tax returns per year exceed 800. She earned her degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University, and completed the Accounting Series at Austin Community College in 2006. She was hand-picked by Michele to join our firm, and is an essential part of our success. She has instituted and manages a paperless project management system that allows our divergent team to instantly be updated on the progress of our tax project boards.
In 2015, our team gained Michelle Gardy, with a degree in business and management from Southwest Texas State University. She is a driven tax drafter with a passion for learning. We love how she is always acquiring new skills and her diligent meticulousness when drafting returns. Add to that the kindness and care with which she treats our clients, and it’s no surprise that she has become indispensable to our Tax Process Manager. She is heavily involved in volunteer work while balancing her steady workload and active family. She’s survived multiple tax seasons with us and we’re so grateful for all that she adds to our tax team!
Andrew Wallin joined Sweeten CPA in July 2017. Before beginning his career in public accounting, Andrew served in the United States Navy on a nuclear submarine based out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He graduated in 2007 from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics with an Emphasis in Accounting. He also earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco in 2015. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, as he worked in both California and Texas prior to joining our team. He brings new specializations and skills to the office and expands our expertise as a firm.
Elizabeth Perch is a Senior Accountant with Sweeten CPA and has been with the company since February 2018. She is a Certified Public Accountant with an Master’s in Business Administration and has over 15 years experience combining cross-function competencies in all phases of accounting & finance, business development, information systems, staff supervision, and management. She has strong industry experience working with NFP organizations and fund accounting along with also being a former U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer. Her areas of expertise are financial reporting and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, government grants, consolidations, cost reductions, identification of risk areas, and implementation of corrective measures. Elizabeth also is Quickbooks Plus Certified.
A natural with people, Anabel Chiman joined Sweeten CPA in 2018 as our E-File Specialist. She is great at managing the tail end of the tax return process, which makes the whole tax team function. Her experience is in people, organization, and accounting. We're so glad to have her with us!
